Update CRM 2011 Users From AD Tool


Project Description

This tool allows you to keep CRM 2011 user record fields that are obtained from Active Directory (AD) in sync with AD.

For example, when you add a user to a CRM 2011 organization where AD is in play, CRM obtains the following values from AD and copies them into the CRM User record.
  1. First Name
  2. Last Name
  3. Address
  4. Title
  5. Telephone Number
  6. Mobile phone number
  7. Fax number
  8. Address

CRM 2011 Online using ADFS (Active Directory Federated Services) has not been tested. If you have an Online environment using ADFS, please try out this tool on it, and let me know the results.

You will need to run it under an account that has privileges to read and update user records in CRM 2011.

Instructions to use:
  1. Download and extract the zip file to a desired location.
  2. Run the UpdateCRM2011UsersFromAD.exe with the following command line arguments:
    • First parameter – This is the CRM 2011 organization url, ex. http://crmserver/orgname
    • Second Parameter – This a single character that defines the run mode.

Possible run modes:
  • S Scan only mode – displays any differences between CRM and AD, nothing is changed
  • P Prompt mode - prompts you to update each out of sync user record. Default mode
  • U Updates all the out of sync user records without prompting.
